Nearly a year ago, I took the plunge into the Gluten Free world. In 2011, I experienced a new way of life that has improved my health and tremendously helped me! In 2011, I survived the holidays with many g free entrees and desserts. So, in 2012, I have made new resolutions for my G free lifestyle:
1. Buy less mixes that cost a fortune!
I have learned that making items from scratch will save you even a few dollars, which can add up over time. Many gluten free brands cost nearly 250% more than the leading gluten containing brand. The other day while I was shopping at Walmart, I glanced at the gluten free macaroni and cheese mix as compared to the Kraft brand and it was beyond ridiculous! While you could buy Kraft for $0.49 the gluten free brand was nearly $3!
2. Plan ahead!
One of the biggest problems I face is the uncertainty of whether or not there will be food I can eat when I travel. I even face this when choosing where to eat with friends! So, in 2012, I pledge to plan ahead so I am more prepared. This means packing healthy snacks for work, trips, social events and so on. This also means planning out my lunches and dinners many days in advance.
So, in this New Year, I hope to accomplish much more than last year! I hope to eat better and enjoy food so much more!
Gluten Free is the life for me!
